I was excited all weekend because I knew ahead of time that I had a half-day job today. This morning I got up and got ready to go. I was just sitting down to zip up my boots when my phone started ringing. It was the sub office calling (and no, it's not a real person - it never is anymore) telling me in its nice (read: annoying) computer voice that my job for today was cancelled. Why is it that for subs to cancel a job assignment we have to give a reason, but the teachers don't? I mean, it would be nice to know just for the sake of knowing. But I don't have any idea why it was cancelled, and by this point it was nearly 8, so most other jobs for today were already taken. I saw a few go by on the website..."in
callout"...meaning the system was already calling subs for the job so you can't accept it online. And of course it didn't call me. I think, if a job gets cancelled on you the day of, you should jump to the top of the list of people the machine calls. But no one ever asks my opinion so I guess they don't care what I think!
haha
It was doubly annoying today too, because a friend of mine who teaches in the district texted me last night asking me if I was available today and tomorrow. I had to tell her I wasn't because of my half-day I thought I had today. So she had to get another sub for those days. So this morning's cancellation felts more like the lose of 2.5 days instead of just one half.
Annoying.

That really stinks. Hopefully you will be able to get more jobs. And I do agree! Subs that have cancellations should go to the TOP of the list!
Just reading about your experience today made me angry all over again! That new system stinks. I was going to say sucks but I don't use that word so I won't. I'm praying for a good rest of the week.
Love you!!! MOM
How completely annoying! I do say the word sucks, and it does, bigtime. Looks like Dawby went and got all fancy with a sign-on, I'm jealous. Hugs, Rhonda
